Master Systems specializes in advisory services and focuses
on organizations for which computing is strategic. We offer
services related to improving the processes by which information
technology products and services - application software in particular
- are acquired, developed, and managed.
We are senior practitioners; we have no junior associates.
Most of our consultants have thirty years of experience in management
information systems, data processing, computer science, project/program
management, and general corporate or engineering management.
Master Systems Inc. was started in February, 1985, at the request
of the National Headquarters of the American Red Cross. Master
Systems was to be its out-source for software development and
management. In that same year the American Red Cross ran out
of funds to support its ambitious project to standardize automation
in its then 3,000 branches nationwide and reduced its relationship
with Master Systems accordingly. Master Systems then began to
offer its strengths - in the methods of development (esp. design)
and project management, the systems development life cycle,
and the management of the information technology resource -
to other enterprises. The evolution to process improvement was
a natural outcome of our beginning focus.
Stan Rifkin is the founder of Master Systems and principal.
He worked at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for three
years. Since then he has concentrated on deploying best practices
to large enterprises.
